from da vaults…nettles is a new series from red rack ems bergerac label which will focus on the more sample based end of things. tracks which have remained secret weapons for many years will finally see the light of day. this first release features music which was played by quite a few heavy hitters but sadly remained lost on the hard drive…until now… ‘bill george starts of as a super funky, cut up electro disco jam which morphs into the mother of all breakdowns before drifting into super deep detroit style house and then peaking back to the original electro funk vibes. a secret weapon for the likes of crazy p (who featured it on their beats in space mix way back in 2010) and one of red rack em most unreleased tracks requested for release , there s going to be quite a few people around the world celebrating bill george finally making it to wax. a 30 second piece of incidental music from a long lost german children s television series is extended into a late night disco jam timm which picked up props from none other than todd terje when danny extended it back in the hot coins edit days of 2007. another lost track which is finally seeing release…. ‘transfer list began life as a hip hop beat which ended up being such an epic opus that the full glory of the track had to be unleashed. once again a cdr classic for a trusted few. a super funky beat evolves into a kind of honky tonk vibe sort of on the kmd tip but with added poppy vocals. made in 2003

manchester s very own mr scruff and nyc crate digger ge-ology remix moscow s lay-far! now that s what we call a truly international release. it s kind of a dream release for us at local talk as both scruff and ge-ology have been on our we wanna get them on local talk plastic list for quite some time. starting off we find scruff going for a slight disco(ish) rub where analogue synths bumps around with a dark but musical basement feel...but still jazzy! on the flip our man ge-ology who is riding high on the hype from his release on theo parrish s sound signature label goes on a deep and spaced out electronic house venture that is so edgy it hurts. its that good good shit basically...enjoy!

tensnake makes a welcome return on wax with his first release of 2016 desire via his own imprint. on the a side, tensnake brings us a slow and low 112bpm dancefloor burner. written during a travel to a very warm and sandy place, desire is a dreamy groove with hazy vocals, airy guitar and exotic synths that will stick to you like glue. the flipside, fantasma, is a trippy acid disco number infused with oriental influences. flirting with balearic and psychedelia, this record sees tensnake going off the beaten path and sets the tone for what should be a great year in music for him and his label true romance.

seems like somethings going on across the pond at the moment with seemingly blossoming, or at least rejuvenated scenes in the united states and canada. our last handful of releases on freerange have included artists from montreal, tujuana, pittsburgh and chicago and were about to add los angeles to the list with this new one from justin jay and ulf bonde. the young producers have been steadily building steam with a number of fine releases the last couple of years and we welcome them to freerange for their debut ep entitled indecision. the title track sets the mood with a low-slung, super-deep house groove complete with an intimate vocal and a charming simplicity which contributes to the powerful end result. elements come into focus then disappear in a fog of reverb whilst playful guitar picks add a live jammed feel to the loping groove giving things a bob moses/francis harris kind of vibe

finale sessions is excited to have another parisian on our superb roster and janeret is not one to sleep on that s for sure. so we are getting right to the music with the first track midnight soul one of my favorites for sure with its beautiful keys and its rich pads and it s enormous bass this track is a latenight beater for sure. track two-contrast-is more on the techier side of things with more pads and a think basline no question a floor pumper it also has really nice drums to flavor that nice vocal. track three subdub this track is more for the dub techno crowd for sure with its super deep chords and its deep sub ambiance sound track four ehtereal electro madness is i am going to say

dirty analog techno from french boss, crackboy trevor jackson: brilliant! crackboy (and all his dirty aliases) never disapoints for his second chapter on crowdspacer (after releases on tigersushi, im a cliché, zone or fragil), crackboy, the king of french dirty analog techno, half of pov with label-boss joakim, digs deeper into that detroit melanchol-epic vibe with weapons of steel on the a-side before going bonkers on the b-side with 2 naughty stripped-down beat-centric dj tools for the sweaty late night crowds. made me think of some gemini tracks when i first heard it (thats a compliment).

the debut album of deepbass going out on his informa imprint. consisting of 8 tracks all in his signature sound but in a more restrained and expressive nature. a sensory journey built of entrancing melodies, fluid motions and a transcending flow which creates a pure hypnotic effect. moments of electronic tribalism consistently layered with waves of delicate sonics and textures, taking you deep into the abyss creating strong imagery in a near cinematic style.

the german saying *ist der ruf erst ruiniert, lebt man voellig ungeniert.*, meaning once your reputation is ruined, your life gets easy, sums up a lot about furfriend s artistic doing. *freedom of filth* lives tightly along those lines and throws its full force of lushness at you, growing into an empowering industrial monster that makes you want you to rip all clothes off your body. if jfk did it, so can you. if big room sound is too much for you and you miss the simplicity and pervy voice of dingo tush that made the duo famous, you will wanna follow their instructions for self appreciation and have a listen to *touch myself*, a trainlike fuckfest for the dancefloor. make sure to bring some lube! following is a short live recording from the *fuck olympics* ... we are just going to leave this uncommented here.

when we started heist a few years back, our idea was to give a stage to talent in a same way as we have had a helping hand by the labels that have supported us from the beginning. therefore, i’s our pleasure to share this release with you by newcomers ouer, a berlin based duo with only a handful of tracks out so far on their self released debut last year. their approach to producing is very much jam based, and with a compact collection of synths, drum machines and a fair level of distortion, they succeed in creating their own sound with hints of classic electronic music from chicago and detroit. theres a nice mix of energy on the whole ep, the ascent being the most driving track of the package. fans of classics mcde tracks will love show off with its dreamy dx7 style chords and cracking acid lines. move over feels like a jam session that was way too much fun with some lovely solo work on the synths, whereas mess around goes down in similar free-ride style on the synths and again, has some lovely sampling going on. an impressive ep were just all too happy to have on our label. sincerely yours, lars & maarten

after 19 years in the game, techno veteran jens lowtec kuhn is still going strong. while he s recently been in a nostalgic mood as reissues of early material prove kuhn is still capable of producing fresh, high quality material. there s much to enjoy about this first ep for new malmo label blundar, from the loud tape hiss, spooky melodies and weirdo ambient dub intent of track 2, to the moody, early autechre throb of skam-ish closer track 4. dancefloor-minded thrills come in the shape of hypnotic opener track 1 all unsettling, one-note chords, restless rhythms and distant electronics and the hard-topigeonhole madness of the schizophrenic track 3

splendor & squalour number 3 sees brame & hamo return to their rising imprint. since the boys ep lamajs secrets on dirt crew we have seen them do a string of remixes for labels such as kolor ltd, heist & their very successful remix for harry wolfman and loz goddards uncle buck on dirt crew. all these releases have kept a steady momentum going for the sligo boys in the house scene. for this ep we have a full 3 tracker consisting of all original cuts. the ep kicks off with kebab dreams which takes us on a trip to the moon with greasy drums and saucy groove. up next is the mpc workout cert city paying homage to their hometown of sligo. closing the ep we have retch wretchedness which takes a darker turn showing us the spookier side of brame & hamo while still keeping the jazzy touch. a peak time track for sure.

shlømo signs new singular, cat number 9 with titan ep. the parisian artist, co-founder of taapion records delivers two deep techno cuts on a side, clearly floor orientated, “titan” opens the hostilities and shows all the thoroughness of the man, powerfull and precise, sharp… then comes “memento mori”, made in collaboration with his friend awb (adrien ozouf), where we can find the same ingredients with more emotional flavours, going deeper. b side starts with a drastic reshape of “titan”, by norman nodge himself, before going on a down tempo warehouse feeiling closing perfectly this record with “void axis”.

bookworms drops cut after cut on his debut album xenophobe. this double lp delivers 7 tracks showcasing some of his best material to date. after listening to the title track, we know xenophobe is not going to be an average 12”. u-more is a slow and steady pulse of head nodding thud. illusion flip is a hazy, bass driven track hidden behind waves of noise and warm melody. on the flip side, showering is pure techno guided by an evolving modular loop built for the floor. nik dawson has no boundaries.

six years after his mila ep, uk techno artist lee renance, better known as 100hz with james chapman, is finally back on bosconi with another strong 3 tracker release called -circles-, a combination of very sought-after gems and reworks of old tunes: the record begins with the gentleness of the groovy and jazzy vibe of that mega rare undergound deep anthem named -shoot the bar-, a track originally out in 1998 on pacific records which many people have been probably waiting since long time for a repress, while on b side the artist presents himself under one of his more obscure aliases as mr format, going trough more voodooish and hypnotic dub techno territories with a pitched down version of primary colours track, an undiscovered and carefully crafted secret weapon previously released on his own imprint format records. last cut of the record is a totally renovated version of the track oliva out in 2009 on the greatest french logistic records. in this new version , “oliva funk” epic strings and pads merge with compelling and engaging beats creating a levitating effect which drive the mind and the mood of the dancefloor into dreamy soundscapes. you ll make it yours.

holic trax was founded in 2012 by berlin based dj/producer tomoki tamura and now serves up its 19th release from brett johnson.

known for his contributions for lumberjacks in hell, seven limited or black key records, giovanni is a talented musician/dj from south italy, producing music for over a decade now. for his faces records debut, gio is going deep, straight back to his latin/jazz roots with la dame et le conga and what u feel like. while paying tribute to the old ny/garage sound on tell you what i do cherry on the top, detroit legend rick wade offers a new take on the title track, crafting a magnificent deep mix of la dame et le conga recommended to every deep house fans and children of the drum

das ding, one of the legends of rotterdam, has been going since the early 80 s with his label tear apart tapes . he had releases on the finest of imprints such as minimal wave. now midlight will issue a some heat by the artist in subject with pride. these excerpts from das ding s modular techno setup were originally released on cassette by dehef, a most fine small imprint from rotterdam.

repress ... it s been a busy 3 years since danny berman aka red rack em released on his own bergerac imprint. since then he s toured relentlessly, released a whole album of live music based disco/punk funk for sonar kollektiv as hot coins, managed to completely update his biggest track in love again to make it a hit the second time around plus released spaced out, wonky party smashers on wolf music, phonica, city fly and telefonplan. while all this was going on bergerac was largely on ice but now berman is turning his energy back to the label with a vengeance.

here we have the fourth and last reference of the “moog your body” series, in which, as always, we have 4 tracks from 4 different artists. for this release we team up with cream soda aka locked club, moscow based duo, that offers a particular vision of acid house with his track “one more night stand”, mixing low-fi jacking and hip-house in a record that will be the artists first vinyl giveaway. the next cut is 6tma’s, our franchise-man. his new mutant rave composition, “joan manuel serato”, more focused towards breaks and uk hardcore, is going to destroy the dance floor again.

unequal is a label founded by anselm from frankfurt am main in 2015. ranging from deep, spaced out analog techno to more droning, industrial rough sounds, the aim is to give an impression of whats going on in the ffm underground these days. sophisticated broken beats and modular synths are essential for this project. unequal means not to be just one specified style but an open-minded platform to express a diverse view of music within the techno genre. with his first ep called -gral-, anselm delivers some cold, moody techno tracks with spherical soundscapes as an connecting element. the title track on the a side is a journey through wide open extramundane synth layers and bubbling acid drops covered by a voluminous bass. b1 is a bit more conventional one with driving hi-hats and slightly jacking beat whereas b2 is four-to-the-floor trippy stripped-down minimalism for the heads.

the last couple of years have been huge for pomo, going from a relatively obscure canadian producer to releasing his debut ep on hw&w, remixing for the likes of janet jackson and mark ronson, and touring the globe with disclosure as their hand-picked opening act.
bastard jazz has commissioned pomo to be next in line for the fourth volume of their *tempo dreams* compilation albums, following on the heels of the hotly contested soul clap compiled vol. 3. as with other tempo dreams records, we tease it out with a limited 7 inch release with tracks from the compiler made specifically for the tempo dreams album.
*blue soda* (part 1) - pomos first original release since his ep in november of 2014 is a typical, rollicking pomo new disco joint with stabbing synths, chopped vocal samples and an irresistible bassline. part 2 on the flip-side delivers more of the same, with a little more of an introspective twist. part 2 is exclusive to the 7 inch only and wont be on the album.

2016 repress , with this ep reilg makes his debut on his own label, lofile. much more subdued than the first ep, lfr 002s a-side appears almost minimalistic, touched with melancholy - going into a deeper state of mind with its bright, clear and distinct accents - like the first rays of dawn, breaking through its background. its like a dark bokeh, rough and raw, clearly influenced by deep techno tracks.its sounds create a mood close to labels like dial and giegling, geared to the morning hours.the b-side remixes by edward and tilman tausendfreund become much more peak time fitting.edwards soulitude remix with a touch of electro strikes with deep and iridescent gravitational attraction.the derailed remix by tilman tausendfreund tops it off,with its acid bassline and house inspired sound. light and bright like a summer breeze, its impossible to not be touched and drawn towards its timbre.
